Man United and Flamengo have agreed on a move for Pereira.
The offensive midfielder, who is 25 years old, is one of a handful of Red Devils players that could move before the transfer deadline.
Andreas Pereira will join Flamengo on loan for the 2021-22 season, according to a contract reached between Manchester United and Flamengo.
Goal has learned that United and the Brazilian club have reached an agreement for the 25-year-old midfielder, who is eager to get more playing time ahead of the World Cup next year.
Pereira missed United's friendly against Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday, and the club is considering letting him leave this summer.
What is the current state of affairs?
Pereira spent last season on loan at Lazio, but the Italian club declined to take up the £21 million ($29 million) permanent option, so he returned to Manchester for pre-season.
In one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's warm-up games, the Brazilian scored one of his best goals of his career in a friendly against Brentford.
He was an unused substitute in United's 5-1 victory over Leeds on the season's opening weekend, and the club was willing to let him go. The priority was for a permanent transfer, but United was also open to a loan with the option to buy, and the deal is now expected to go through pending the completion of some final paperwork.
Flamengo is expected to pay a loan fee of £850,000 (€1 million) as well as 60% of his wages, according to Goal. It's also believed that the deal includes a buyout option at the end of the season.
Later this week, Pereira is anticipated to fly to Brazil.
What's been said so far?
Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president of football, revealed Flamengo's interest in Pereira earlier this week.
“We have until the 28th. He's a player from a big club, one of the biggest in Europe, and we're trying to see if we can achieve success with this deal,” Braz told TNT Sports.
“The negotiations are going on, there's always some problem, there's always some point where there's a bigger jam, especially with a player of this level. We are happy to be in the hunt to get this player.”
Who else might possibly depart Manchester United?
While Pereira appears to be on his way out, the futures of a few other first-team players remain uncertain. Brandon Williams is expected to complete a move to Norwich City this week, while Jesse Lingard's return to West Ham is still a priority.
With the signing of Jadon Sancho pushing him lower down the pecking order, Amad is another player who is ready to move on loan.
